When they woke up the next morning, Firestorm told the group that he was going to get a badge, Insanellama, X, and Toocold decided to follow suit. “We want matches for badges,” said Firestorm. “One pokemon each” said Koga. Firestorm was up first.
“WHEEZING I CHOOSE YOU!” said Koga throwing the pokeball
“PIKACHU GO!” said Firestorm
PIKACHU THUNDERBOLT NOW!
WHEEZING TOXIC NOW!
Wheezing succeeded in badly poisoning the pikachu. The pikachu’s thunderbolt fainted the Wheezing. Koga tossed him a badge, and gave him directions to the pokecenter. X was next.
ONIX GO!
WHEEZING GO!
ONIX SLAM NOW!
WHEEZING TOXIC NOW!
Onix slammed down on the wheezing, and it got only a puff of smoke out. It did not poison Onix, but injured him nonetheless. Koga tossed X a soul badge. Insanellama was up next. “In the memory of Xavier.” he said as he grabbed Nidoking’s pokeball.
NIDOKING GO!
WHEEZING GO!
NIDOKING HORN DRILL NOW!
WHEEZING SMOG NOW!
Nidoking let the wheezing taste a horn, write in the mouth of the big head. Nidoking was down, but wheezing had to be withdrawn. Insanellama headed out the door, catching his soul badge on the way out. “You’re next Toocold,” said Koga.
“MANKEY GO!”
WHEEZING GO!
MANKEY UPERCUT NOW!
WHEEZING SLUDGE!
Mankey ducked under the stream of fetid sludge, and gave Wheezing an uppercut, without command, it finished the combo with right cross. Wheezing was out. Mankey fell to the ground glowing red. “You win kid, your mankey is evolving” said Koga. When it was finished, toocold had a PRIMEAPE. Just then the others returned from the pokecenter. “Great job,” they said in unison, seeing Toocold hugging his new Primeape. They all went up to join the others with their new soul badges.
Clan Caterpie had arrived in Fuschia City the night before and Icy was ready to earn himself a new badge. InsaneLlama and his friends had just finished battle Koga. Koga already knew Icy’s true identity since they had talked about it before going to sleep last night. Now Icy challenged Koga to a match.
“Very well. I hope you’ve got some Antidotes with you. You’ll need them!” Koga said.
“No prob..” Icy untied Abra’s pokéball from his tail.
“It will be two on two. GO Venomoth!” Koga throw his pokéball into the ring. Venomoth popped out. “VENOMOTH!!” it screeched.
“No problem. GO Abra!” Icy floated the pokéball into the center and Abra came out. “Psychic pokémon are strong against poison! Abra, use your psybeam!”
“Venomoth, use your wing attack to break its concentration!” Venomoth flapped its wings quickly and Abra was about to be blown off balance.
“Abra, teleport!” Abra teleported behind Venomoth and before it could react, Abra fired a psybeam at it. Venomoth fainted easily from the psychic attack. Koga returned it and sent out Weezing.
“Weezing, smokescreen!” The entire gym was covered in smoke.
“Abra. Ummm. Psybeam again!” Abra could see what he was doing and fired psybeams everywhere. Koga ducked as one of the beams headed his way.
“Weezing. Sludge attack now.” Abra never saw it coming. The sludge blinding it and Icy had to return it.
“Darn. GO Caterpie!” Icy floated Caterpie’s pokéball over the field, and Caterpie popped out. “String Shot followed by tackle!” Weezing tried its best to avoid the netting but Icy’s Caterpie was so pumped with Calcium and other vitamins that its attacks were just too fast. Weezing fell to the ground covered in string. Caterpie rushed in and tackled it. Weezing fainted from the impact.
“Very impressive. You have trained that Caterpie well. Here is the Soul Badge.” He respectfully handed Icy the badge. “I hear the S.S. Anne will be picking up passengers from Fuschia City on Friday. You are free to stay in my gym until then. Team Rocket won’t find you here.”
“Thanks Koga.” Icy returned to the group. It would be a long day.
At the Fightin’ W ranch, things had finally calmed down. Lonewolf had decided to attend the S.S. Anne party, and headed for the beaches of pallet (which were a stop on the trip to pick up trainers). “Ok see you guys later” lonewolf said to her brothers as she and her Vulpix walked out the door. She headed due south, and Boarded the SS Anne. She had hopes that she might find clan Caterpie somewhere on board.
